Geologic controls on paleodrainage incision and morphology during sea level lowstands on the Cascadia shelf in Oregon, USA

چکیده

The lowstand extensions of two fluvial systems from the Cascadia subduction margin are investigated using high-resolution seismic reflection data to determine relative controls on paleodrainage morphology. We document distinct differences between systems, located ~40 km apart, attributed underlying structure and lithology, shelf gradient, drainage basin characteristics. A cross-shelf valley exists for only one Umpqua River. outer part is a syncline, which formed natural structural low drainage, while inner exhibits incision associated with mid-shelf convex change slope. other system, Siuslaw River, did not develop an across-shelf denoted in by erosional subaerial unconformity. Structural trends perpendicular supporting more anastomosing stream morphology paleo-Siuslaw. edge this system was exposed long period time during last lowstand, preventing substantial incision. Differences elevation, discharge, hinterland geology, also played role morphologies paleo-Umpqua These results highlight how can over short distances active margin.

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.

Coastal Subsidence in Oregon, Usa, during the Giant Cascadia Earthquake of Ad 1700

Quantitative estimates of land-level change during the AD1700 giant Cascadia earthquake along the Oregon coastline are inferred from relative sea-level changes reconstructed from fossil foraminiferal assemblages preserved within the stratigraphic record. We apply a transfer functions based upon a regional training set of surface sediment samples from estuaries along the Oregon coast. The transf...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
